William and Mary football moves up in FCS national rankings

Chris Graham

wm-logoAfter earning a 42-14 victory at Hampton on Saturday, the William and Mary football team moved up in both major Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) polls this week. W&M is ranked No. 16 in The Sports Network Poll, while it is No. 19 in the Coaches Poll.

W&M’s spot in the TSN poll matches the program’s highest ranking last season, which it garnered after defeating three top-20 teams in consecutive weeks.

The Tribe’s lone loss this season came at Virginia Tech, a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent that earned a 35-21 victory at No. 8 Ohio State last weekend.

The Tribe will return to action this weekend when it hosts Norfolk State in its home opener on Saturday at 7 p.m.
