fairviewExtensive research led by Mary Baldwin College professor Amy Tillerson Brown into a local African-American cemetery is now easily accessible online on a new website produced by Augusta Free Press.

Fairview Cemetery is an important vestige of the African American community in Staunton and Augusta County, Virginia. For 140 years, families and friends have entrusted the caretakers of this place with the remains of their loved ones.

The website produced by AFP in conjunction with Mary Baldwin College includes an extensive database of historical records collected by Brown and her student team.

The website is online at www.MBC.edu/fairview.
