Waynesboro Public Schools Foundation seeks to raise $1 million

AFP

waynesboro2editsThe Waynesboro Public Schools Foundation has a goal to raise $1 million to benefit students and the educational experiences they receive through the Waynesboro Public School (WPS) system.

The foundation will do this by connecting friends and supporters of WPS to an opportunity to invest in an endowment created through the community foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. The community foundation invests the assets of the fund for long-term growth — creating a gift that keeps on giving. The principal is never spent, only the fund’s earnings.

How Students Benefit

The community foundation disburses money from the fund annually to the superintendent based on a prescribed formula. The superintendent, with the approval of the Waynesboro School Board, will spend the annual disbursements for capital projects or purchases, such as instructional materials and technology — giving Waynesboro’s children access to state-of-the-art learning environments.

How to Give

Individuals and businesses may support the Waynesboro Public Schools Foundation with tax-deductible contributions, such as:

  • Current gifts, including cash, appreciated securities and IRA distributions
  • Estate gifts, including bequest, trusts, insurance policies, retirement

accounts

Contributions should be made payable to the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, with instructions to direct such contributions to the Waynesboro Public Schools Foundation. For questions, call 540-213-2150.

The season of giving is upon us. In addition to toys and presents, why not give area youth the gift of a well-funded, quality education?
