Waynesboro Generals blank VBL-leading Front Royal, 1-0

generals-front-royal3Jeff Schank and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout, and a Kyle Pitts squeeze play RBI gave Waynesboro the only run it needed in a 1-0 over Valley League-leading Front Royal Tuesday night at Kate Collins Field.

Schank (freshman, Butler) went seven innings, giving up four hits, striking out seven and walking two. Austin Goss (freshman, USC-Upstate) closed out the ninth for his VBL-best ninth save.

Mike Marcinko (sophomore, Shippensburg) and Travis Naraine (junior, North Georgia) each had two hits for Waynesboro, which moves to a game back of the Cardinals with the win.

The Generals return to action on Thursday at New Market.
