The Wayne Theatre presents 13 Perspectives, an exhibition of contemporary fiber art, in the Exhibit Gallery Aug, 30-Nov. 25.
An opening reception for the gallery will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5-7 p.m.
Liz Moss, curator for the Wayne Theatre, saw an exhibit last year at the Harrisonburg Quilt Museum and knew she wanted to invite the artists to have their work showcased at the Wayne.
“This is a rare treat for our audience to be able to enjoy the work of these very special guest artists from the Washington Metro Area,” Moss said.
About the exhibit: 13 Perspectives challenges each member of the New Image artists group to create work that expresses their personal perspectives and immerse it into their work. No two people think alike and that is especially true of artists. The way artists perceive the world is seen through their own lens. Each artist steps back from the canvas of their lives, their experiences, realities and fantasies to develop their own perspectives. Creating art is a way artists challenge themselves to interpret those perspectives, sometimes to share and often to find their own voices.
The exhibit gallery is located upstairs at the historic Wayne Theatre at 521 W. Main St. in Downtown Waynesboro. It is open to the public Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and during all performances. Admission is Pay What You Will.
