Washington rallies, tops Marlins, 7-4

nationals_logoWashington rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit to defeat the Miami Marlins, 7-4, on Sunday at Nationals Park.

The victory was the sixth in nine games for the Nationals (66-63), who kept pace five and a half games back of the New York Mets (72-58), who beat the Boston Red Sox, 5-4.

Stephen Strasburg only went four innings in the Sunday start, giving up four runs on seven hits. Doug Fister (5-7, 4.56 ERA) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief.

Jonathon Papelbon notched his 22nd save despite giving up two hits in the ninth.

Jayson Werth (5) and Clint Robinson (7) homered for the Nats.
