Washington Nationals blast Reds, 12-1

stephen strasburgStephen Strasburg threw six and two-thirds hitless innings in his return from the disabled list in a 12-1 Washington Nationals win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

The win is the seventh in eight games for the Nats (50-33), who have a five-game lead over the New York Mets (44-37) in the National League East.

Strasburg (11-0, 2.71 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) struck out five and walked four. He was lifted with two outs in the seventh with a 9-0 lead having thrown 109 pitches.

Washington hit five homers, with Danny Espinosa (.241/.341/.479, 18 HR, 49 RBI) going deep twice, with a third-inning grand slam and a solo shot in the seventh.

Espinosa had five home runs and 15 RBI in the four-game series with the Reds this weekend.

Bryce Harper (.261/.405/.496, 17 HR, 48 RBI) also homered, along with Wilson Ramos (.343/.394/.567, 13 HR, 46 RBI), Anthony Rendon (.258/.307/.409, 8 HR, 31 RBI) and Stephen Drew (.247/.319/.556, 7 HR, 15 RBI).
