Chris Graham

vmi_logoVMI has been announced as the winner of the 2013-14 Big South Institutional Sportsmanship Award, according to information released Wednesday by the league. It is the eighth time in the award’s nine-year history that the Keydets have been the recipients.

VMI won four team sportsmanship awards this past season, taking honors in baseball, basketball, men’s cross country and football.

The overall winner is determined on a system that recognizes the highest percentage of the maximum points an institution is capable of receiving for each team award. The team awards were voted on by Big South student-athletes following each Conference championship.

VMI was tops among the Big South membership with a 30.79 percentage of the maximum points received in its sponsored League sports.
