Grants were announced to prevent and treat family violence in Virginia including child abuse, domestic violence and elder abuse.

The grants to support the prevention, treatment and public awareness of family violence were announced March 25 by the Family and Children’s Trust Fund of Virginia, or FACT.

The grants were awarded during the public-private partnership’s March 13 board meeting.

“FACT is proud to provide grants up to $5,000 to organizations that are working hard in our communities to prevent and treat family violence,” said Nicole Poulin, executive director of FACT. “The grants help fill funding gaps and jump start new programs to ensure the success of these important initiatives.”

The following organizations and programs were selected to receive grant funding:

  • Greater Augusta Coalition Against Adult Abuse, $5,000: Funds will go toward the upcoming statewide training “Unmasking Adult Abuse, Leading the Way to Change.” The training focuses on preventing and addressing abuse against older adults.
  • Early Impact Virginia, $5,000: Providing funds for the Together We Thrive: 2025 Virginia Home Visiting annual conference
  • Virginia Victim Assistance Network, $5,000: Supports its Advocate Essentials Academy for victim advocates, a statewide, weeklong training focused on court advocates
  • Camp HOPE America Massanutten Mountains, $5,000: Supports implementing a camp for children and youth who have been exposed to domestic violence. Camp HOPE is a new initiative developed by Shenandoah Family Youth Initiative and Page Alliance for Community Action
  • Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, $4,000: Funds will go toward its Power of We annual conference

Requests are submitted to FACT, and board members review and approve requests during March, June, September and December board meetings.

FACT addresses family violence and trauma across the lifespan – from child abuse and neglect to domestic violence to elder abuse and neglect.
