Two juveniles were charged in the shooting death of a Virginia Beach 14-year-old boy in March. More than four months later, a Virginia Beach woman has been arrested for not properly securing the firearm used in the accidental shooting.

Caromekia Parker, 38, was arrested Sunday and charged with felony child neglect, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.

On March 7, officers were called to the scene in the 4900 block of Almandine Avenue where they found the victim. First responders attempted to provide help to the teen, but he was pronounced dead on scene.

The initial investigation found that the victim and other juveniles had been handling a firearm when it discharged.

A 16-year-old male was charged with involuntary manslaughter, juvenile possession of a firearm and shooting inside an occupied dwelling.

A 15-year-old male was charged with obstructing justice.
