Malachi Fields should get dinged for that INT

Virginia, after a great first series from the D, and a big punt return from Ethan Davies, started at the Pitt 32.

Anthony Colandrea, on a first-down pass from the Pitt 21, hit Malachi Fields in his hands inside the Pitt 10, but Fields popped the ball up in the air, and it was picked by Pitt DB Tamon Lynum.

Virginia gets on the board first

A trick play that had Suderian Harrison, a wideout who played QB in high school, throwing to Anthony Colandrea for a 27-yard gain set up a 1-yard TD run by Xavier Brown.

The Virginia D has held the Pitt offense to 48 total yards.

Virginia leads 7-0 in the second quarter.

Pitt finally gets the equalizer

A 12-play, 80-yard drive ends with a 1-yard TD run by Daniel Carter.

Pitt hadn’t had a first down in the game until this drive.

Bad Colandrea INT leads to Pitt FG

Still not sure, because ACCN didn’t feel it necessary to show us a replay, what Anthony Colandrea saw on that third-down INT.

He stared down the TE over the middle.

The D held Pitt to a field goal.

Pitt goes into the break with another score

A Ben Sauls 48-yard field goal makes it 13-7 Pitt at the half.

Pitt scored a TD and two field goals in the final 4:41.

Almost mirror image stats from Q1 to Q2: UVA had a 110-45 edge in total offense in the first quarter; Pitt had a 110-50 advantage in the second quarter.

People are telling me that Elliott needed to bench Colandrea

They’re not bright. Anthony Colandrea gained 29 yards on a QB draw, then connected with Xavier Brown for a 24-yard TD.

Virginia 14, Pitt 13, 5:39/3rd

INT of the backup QB, then punched in by the offense

The red zone offense issue isn’t an issue tonight. Second straight trip into the red zone is punched in for a TD, this one on a 3-yard TD run by Kobe Pace.

Virginia 21, Pitt 13, 3:34/3rd

Pitt scores, gets within two

Backup QB Nate Yarnell connects with Gavin Bartholomew for a 3-yard TD. The two-point try ends up missing, after a penalty took the first two-point play off the board.

Virginia 21, Pitt 19, 10:32/4th

Bettridge extends the lead

A short Will Bettridge field goal makes it 24-19 with 2:04 to go.

Nice call by the officials helping extend the drive.

Pat Narduzzi is going to end up coaching this one for free when he talks with the media later.

Corey Thomas INT seals it

Pitt got the ball into plus territory, but Corey Thomas finished the game off with an INT.

Virginia finishes off the upset: 24-19.
