The headlines I’m seeing from a new CBS News poll have it that the loony Democrats like socialism more than they do capitalism.
How about the increasingly loony independents, and what they think?
It’s not just Democrats who are shifting, based on the data.
Democrats, per the poll, view socialism favorably by a 58 percent to 18 percent margin, and our split on the merits of capitalism is 32 percent favorable, 50 percent unfavorable.
But the independents – man.
They’re coming along.
The Is are still slightly unfavorable on socialism – 36 percent are favorable, 42 percent unfavorable.
Their split on the merits of capitalism – 41 percent yay, 39 percent nay.
Too much of the discourse of late has been about Democratic Socialist candidates hating Thanksgiving and the U.S. Senate.
Not enough of our thinking on what’s going on in our country now is on how the middle is shifting, and quickly, from right to left.
The Ds are not congregating in the middle anymore, obviously, based on their answers to these two questions.
Even the supposed middle is headed more to the left than we’ve ever seen before.
Where we even asking people’s views on socialism in polls … a year ago?
What if this end up being Donald Trump’s legacy?
