Tabitha Amanze had 21 points and 12 rebounds to key Virginia to a 77-46 win over Radford on Sunday at JPJ.
Don’t get too excited. Radford (2-3) has a NET ranking of 305, nine spots lower than UMBC, which upset the ‘Hoos on Thursday.
You don’t want me to tell you that UMBC followed up the upset win over UVA with a 56-54 loss to Brown on Sunday.
That one was Brown’s first win of the year.

UVA (3-1) took control of this one with a 13-2 first-quarter run that put the Cavaliers ahead 26-13 at the end of one.
Virginia shot 8-of-20 from three, three nights after putting up an ohfer from bonus-land, and was 45.0 percent from the field overall.
Preseason All-ACC point guard Kymora Johnson had another rough day – nine points on 3-of-9 shooting, eight assists and four turnovers in 34 minutes.
“Definitely proud of our players. Obviously, last time we were playing at home, against UMBC, that was not a great game for us. It didn’t really reflect what kind of team we are, and what kind of team we’re going to be. We had to learn through that hard loss,” fourth-year UVA coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton said.
“Everybody stayed positive. Everybody stayed together and believed in themselves. I was just really happy with how we came out and competed, dominated the game on both sides,” Agugua-Hamilton said.
Next up: another cupcake, in the form of Longwood (3-1, RPI: 245) on Thursday.
Tipoff is at 6 p.m. The game is being broadcast on ACC Network.
