UVA Baseball left out of NCAA Tournament: How much of a screwjob was it?

That UVA Baseball team that won 12 of its last 15 games, a stretch that included a sweep of a Miami team that lost six of its last seven, and two of three at ACC regular-season champ Georgia Tech, was left out of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Miami got in with a 31-24 record and an average computer ranking at 45, and wasn’t even on the Last Four In seed line, according to the selection committee.

The Last Four In:

  • Arizona State (35-22, ACR: 39)
  • Oklahoma State (28-23, ACR: 41)
  • Southern Cal (35-21, ACR: 44)
  • Kansas State (31-24, ACR: 47)

Other at-large teams in that vicinity who somehow weren’t among the Last Four In:

  • Kentucky (29-24, ACR: 38)
  • Cincinnati (32-24, ACR: 43)

The relevant numbers for our guys: 32-18, ACR: 40.

Texas A&M, by the way, also got screwed here – with a 30-26 record and 36 ACR.

I don’t get the committee going with a Kentucky team that was 5-9 in its last 14, a Kansas State team that was 5-7 in its last 12, an Arizona State team that lost its last four, a Southern Cal team that lost six of its last nine, an Oklahoma State team that was under .500 most of the season, that Miami team that lost six of its last seven, over UVA and Texas A&M.

Whatevs.
