Kyle Johnson hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to complete a comeback, and Lucas Hartman shut down North Dakota State with two shutout innings to close out a 5-4 Virginia win on Sunday down in Deland, Fla., on the campus of Stetson University.

The win completes a 2-1 road trip – the ‘Hoos lost 6-5 to Stetson on Saturday.

AJ Gracia, who homered three times in the 21-8 win over Monmouth on Friday, had a two-run shot in this one.

Johnson’s homer was his first of the 2026 season.

It was another staff day for first-year UVA coach Chris Pollard – get used to those – with freshman John Paone getting the start and going 3.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits and a walk, and striking out six.

Hartman got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief.
