We still don’t know the circumstances that are believed to have led to the shooting death of Silvio Sobrinho, 58, of Revere, Mass., who was found deceased with a gunshot wound at 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 31.
According to VSP, Sobrinho’s tractor-trailer was traveling in the left lane of I-295 near the 25 mile marker in Henrico County when it was struck by a second tractor-trailer traveling in the center lane.
The impact forced Sobrinho’s vehicle off the roadway, where it struck a metal guardrail and came to a stop.
According to VSP, a witness in a tractor-trailer traveling northbound saw the incident, and found Sobrinho slumped over the steering wheel.
A responding trooper initiated CPR, but the driver was later pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel.
Several bullet holes were discovered on the passenger side of the victim’s tractor unit.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the fatal crash and shooting involving Silvio Sobrinho.
