Two arrested in Waynesboro drug raids

Chris Graham

waynesboroThe Waynesboro Police Department Special Operations Division and SWAT Team conducted simultaneous drug raids at adjoining apartments in the 600 block of North Delphine Avenue on Wednesday. As a result of the guns, drugs and other evidence found at the scene, multiple arrests were made and multiple arrests are pending.

In the first apartment, police encountered a total of two adult females, four adult males and one juvenile male. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were recovered from four of these suspects. The drug evidence was collected and sent to the forensic lab for testing. Warrants are pending for these suspects.

In addition to the drugs found on the suspects present at the scene, a .12-gauge shotgun and several grams of methamphetamine were recovered from a room at the residence as well. As a result, warrants were obtained for 57-year-old William Gregory Gibson, of Waynesboro, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs. Gibson remains at large.

In the second apartment, police encountered a single adult male. A small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were recovered at this location, and warrants are pending for simple drug possession.

As police were conducting these searches, a car arrived at the scene with four occupants. Police detained all four and recovered methamphetamine and paraphernalia from all four occupants. Police discovered a loaded .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol concealed under one of the passengers in the rear of the vehicle.

Approximately two ounces of methamphetamine (with a street value of approximately $5,000) and over $700 in cash was also seized. For three of the suspects in the vehicle, the evidence was seized and sent to the forensic lab for analysis. Charges are pending for these suspects.

One suspect, 28-year-old Staunton resident Cody Brandon Christian, was arrested at the scene for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police were able to determine that Christian was renting a room at the Howard Johnson Hotel on North Central Avenue in Staunton, Virginia. Staunton Police executed a search warrant at his room and recovered more narcotic paraphernalia and additional evidence related to the gun charges placed on Christian. Additional charges are pending in Staunton for Christian as well.  Christian is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
