Waynesboro Public Schools resume classes this Wednesday morning, August 20. Motorists traveling throughout Waynesboro should expect more congested roads in the morning and afternoon due to school buses and additional school related traffic.
Due to the added traffic, motorists should allow extra travel time for the first few days of school to ensure they get to their destinations on time. Also, motorists should be aware of students walking on sidewalks or biking to school along the road. Crosswalks near schools will also be heavily travelled with seven intersections being under the control of a school crossing guard who work for the Waynesboro Police Department.
Extra officers from the Police Department will be on duty on the first day of school focusing on the enforcement of traffic laws related to school speed zones, school buses, crosswalks, etc.
