Suicide: Film to explore people who find their way back from dark places

sparc film A screening of Moving America’s Soul on Suicide will be held on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville.

The screening, presented by the Charlottesville Area Suicide Prevention Resource & Awareness Council, is free; registration is not required.

  • “Anyone can get broken.” The words effortlessly formed by a marine who once did not believe them himself, until a tragic plane crash sent his life down a path he never thought possible
  • A teenage girl who doesn’t expect to grow up and lacks the will to do so
  • A young boy struggling with his own spiraling thoughts he could not control

These are just a few of the thousands of stories that far too often end in heartbreak for family and friends.

Silouan, Tonja, Kevin, Misha, Craig and Ally each share their remarkable stories of triumph over trauma, pain and mental health challenges.

Dr. Thomas Joiner takes a look into what leads a person to these dark places, but more importantly, how to help them find their way back.

The Paramount Theater is located at 215 East Main St. in Charlottesville.
