Streaking Waynesboro Generals top Staunton, 8-4

gens-braves2A night after a blowout win in the rivalry series, the Waynesboro Generals took early control with a two-run homer by Mike McClellan, got solid pitching from UVA sophomore Kevin Doherty, and knocked off the Staunton Braves, 8-4, Sunday afternoon,

Doherty (2-0) struck out seven, walked one, and allowed two runs on four hits in five innings to earn the victory.

McClellan’s homer, a two-run shot in the first, pushed Waynesboro to an early 3-0 lead.

Cole Gruber had two hits and two RBI for Waynesboro, which improved to a season-high 10 games over .500 at 26-16 with the win.
