Virginia State Police have arrested a Hampton man in connection to a shooting incident on Interstate 664 on Nov. 25.

Derrick L. Burnett Jr., 36, is being held at the Chesapeake City Jail without bond. He has been charged with maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle, shooting from a vehicle, attempted malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Special agents arrested Burnett on Tuesday. The arrest stems from an aggressive driving incident that escalated when Burnett allegedly shot at a passenger vehicle on I-664 northbound near the Roanoke Avenue exit in Newport News.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured. The vehicle was damaged.

The incident remains under investigation.
