Spring has nearly sprung: Tickets available for Virginia Scenic Railway

Spring tickets are available for the Virginia Scenic Railway and the railway is almost ready for passengers to experience the latest addition to its fleet.

The “Silver Palace” is a Vista-Dome class car built by the Budd Company in 1948. The car originally ran on the Western Pacific Railroad’s California Zephyr passenger route. Refurbishment is nearly complete.

In VSR’s traditional Dining Car class, passengers will enjoy a leisurely meal at their own private table with a front row view. Each ticket is $120 and includes an entree and dessert, plus a non-alcoholic beverage (coffee, soda, tea and water) served in a complimentary souvenir glass.

Wine, sparkling wine and beer selections are available for additional purchase on the train.

In our adults-only Dome Car, we offer prime “Upper Level” seating for $110 per person and “Cafe Class” seating for $90 per person on the main level. A meal is not included in the price of the Dome Car ticket, but passengers will have the opportunity to pre-order from a box meal menu during the booking process. Wine, sparkling wine and beer selections will be available for purchase at the new walk-up bar in the lounge.

Trains run Thursdays through Sundays. Excursions depart from historic Staunton and travel through the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Tickets range from $90-$120 per person. Space is limited so book early for best selection.
