SMAC swimmers post 147 personal best times under new head coach

bassmeetpicThe Waynesboro Y year round competitive swim team, SMAC (Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club) competed at the Bass Long Course Invitational May 2nd and 3rd.

The swimmers raced for the first time in a long course pool (50 meter pool) this season. The team also competed in the first meet under their new coach, Scott Thacker.  The swimmers continued on their path of success, welcoming their new coach in fine fashion.

An amazing 147 best times were achieved by the swimmers.

The following swimmers attended the meet: Cameron Aenchbacher (8), Nick Alrdidge (11), Naomi Blair (9), Emma Davis (10), Mckina Fitzgerald (15), Miles Fitzgerald (12), Taylor Hubbard (14), Sarah Loomis (15), Miguel Loya (10), Brianna Mason (8), Davis McKellop (10), Paige McKellop (8), Rachel Murie (12), Cameron Murie (13), Ashley Painter (11, Mia Piefer (9), Clara Riggan (12), Ellie Schundler (8), Jackson Schundler (10), Haley Sheffield (9), Julia Smith (10), Tate Snyder (14), , Kristen Wagner (13), Anna Weaber (9), Anna Wissler (8), Erin Wissler (10), Sterling Wissler (7), and Emma Woodworth (13).

The following swimmers placed in the top 5 in their respective events:

  • Emma Davis-5th 100 fly, 4th 200 free, 5th 400 free
  • Davis McKellop- 4th 100 free, 3rd 200 free, 4th 50 breast, 4th 50 free, 3rd 100 breast, 4th 200IM, 3rd 400free
  • Ashley Painter- 3rd 200 fly
  • Jackson Shundler- 4th 50 fly
  • Ellie Schundler- 1st 50 free, 1st 50 fly, 1st 50 back, 2nd 50 breast
  • Haley Sheffield- 1st 200 free, 5th 50 free
  • Tate Snyder- 4th 400IM, 2nd 200 fly, 5th 800 free
  • Kristen Wagner- 2nd 100 fly, 3rd 400IM, 3rd 50 free, 1st 200 fly, 4th 200 free, 2nd 800 free
  • Sterling Wissler- 4th 50 back, 5th 50 breast
  • Emma Woodworth- 2nd 50 back, 4th 800free

In addition, Davis, Loya, Mason, Davis Mckellop, Rachel Murie, Peifer, Riggan, Jackson Schundler, Ellie Shundler, Snyder, Wagner, and Woodworth all swam best times in every one of their events.

SMAC will now head to Baltimore in a couple of weeks, followed by their annual team hosted Commonwealth Games at Ridgeview Park at the end of June.
