Junior guard Jamel Jackson nailed 12 three-point shots and finished with 40 points to lead Seton Hall to a 134-107 victory over Virginia Military Institute Saturday afternoon before a crowd of 6,012 spectators at Prudential Center.

The Pirates of the Big East Conference ran their record to 8-0 while the Keydets sustained back-to-back losses for the first time this season and fell to 4-5.

Seton Hall, behind Jackson’s 14-of-17 shooting from the field and 12-of-15 beyond the arc, scorched the nets with 20 treys in 35 attempts on the day and shot almost as well from three-point range (57.1 percent) as they did from the field (57.8 percent).

VMI was paced in scoring by junior guard Austin Kenon, who produced his second consecutive 20-plus point scoring game and finished with 24 points, including five three-point field goals. Sophomore guard Michael Sparks tossed in five three-pointers and scored 19 points, while sophomore guard Ron Burks scored 18 points going four-of-five from long range.

2008 Waynesboro High School grad Nick Gore scored three points in eight minutes off the bench.
