Road rage? Man in critical condition after shooting on Interstate 64 in Richmond

A shooting Sunday night on Interstate 64 westbound in Richmond has left one victim in critical condition with gunshot wounds.

Calvin W. Carter Jr., 40, of Henrico County, was taken to VCU Medical Center in critical condition.

The shooting took place at approximately 11:38 p.m. at the 186-mile marker in Richmond.

Troopers responded to Interstate 64 following reports of a shooting which took place between two vehicles heading westbound on the interstate. It is unknown if the shooting was the result of a dispute or road rage. This weekend was the start of the busy Thanksgiving travel season.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Richmond Field Office is investigating a shooting.

There is not believed to be any further threat to the public at this time, according to VSP.
