Richmond basketball signs 6-7 KoVien Dominaus

dominausHSRichmond men’s basketball has added to next year’s incoming class with the signing of 6-7 wing KoVien Dominaus (DOM-in-uss) from Independence High School in Columbus, Ohio.

“KoVien adds to a very strong recruiting class that we have coming in this fall,” head coach Chris Mooney said. “He is a versatile wing player that can shoot from outside, put the ball on the floor and defend. We look forward to his development in our program.”

Dominaus averaged 19.6 points per game last season as an outside shooting wing player. He scored in double figures in every game of his senior season of high school, and once hit nine threes in a single contest.

Led by Dominaus’ floor presence and leadership, Independence won 12 more games in 2014 than the year before. Dominaus led all of City League South in scoring and tallied 10 games of 20 points or more.

He played one season of AAU basketball for Ohio Varsity before the summer of his senior season.

Dominaus joins Julius Johnson, Jesse Pistokache and walk-on Keith Oddo as true freshmen on next year’s team. Khwan Fore and Paul Friendshuh will also be eligible as redshirt-freshmen after sitting out this past season with injuries.

Everything you wanted to know about a heat dome, but were afraid to ask

A “heat dome” is worse than a “heat wave,” I’m learning, because “heat dome” refers to hot weather that can last a week or more, while a “heat wave” can be over in as few as three days.
