Our own government is killing protestors in the streets of America. With this in mind, most of us don’t want the U.S. military to engage in Iran, where authorities are killing protestors in their streets.
Per new polling from Quinnipiac University released on Wednesday, self-identified Republican voters are more likely to support U.S. military action in Iran, but not even a majority of the MAGAs is backing Donald Trump on that one.
The breakdown:
- Republicans: 35 percent support, 53 percent oppose
- Independents: 11 percent support, 80 percent oppose
- Democrats: 7 percent support, 79 percent oppose
The Republicans among us are also breaking from the president on his idea to use military force to take Greenland.
The polling numbers have 23 percent of Republicans saying they would support “trying to take Greenland by military force,” with 68 percent of Republicans opposed.
The rest of us are much, much more opposed:
- Democrats: 95 percent opposed, 1 percent support (I want to talk to that guy …)
- Independents: 94 percent opposed, 3 percent support
Only so many of us watch Fox News, NewsMax and MyPillowTV, I guess.
Republicans are much more open to the idea of trying to buy Greenland, which doesn’t want to be bought, but anyway.
The poll has us breaking down on that matter thusly:
- Republicans: 67 percent support, 27 percent opposed
- Independents: 36 percent support, 58 percent opposed
- Democrats: 9 percent support, 85 percent opposed
It can’t hurt to try, I guess, is the sentiment there.
Republican voters are with their guy on:
- the U.S. running Venezuela (69 percent support, 19 percent oppose)
- the U.S. taking over Venezuelan oil sales (76 percent support, 13 percent oppose)
- taking military action in Colombia to attack suspected drug facilities there (72 percent support, 13 percent oppose)
- taking military action in Mexico to attack suspected drug facilities there (74 percent support, 20 percent oppose)
Independents and Democrats don’t come close to offering support for any of that.
