A Lynchburg man is in custody after allegedly threatening to kill police officers on the phone and in writing.
Officers received a felony warrant for Todd Demile Murray, 34, after a detective received a threatening phone call on Thursday. During the call, Murray allegedly made threats to kill the detective and other law enforcement. In addition to the call, Murray sent threats in writing, according to police.
The LPD tactical unit, crisis negotiations team, drone unit and Virginia State Police responded to assist with Murray’s arrest. The coordinated effort led to his immediate arrest without incident.
During their investigation, detectives also located a firearm and a distribution-level amount of marijuana, leading to additional felony charges.
Murray has been charged with the following offenses:
- Felony threats in writing
- Possession of firearm by a convicted felon
- Distribution of marijuana
- Two counts of felony obstruction of justice
Murray was also served with a violation of probation with the underlying charge of robbery.
He is being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, according to online court records.
This case remains under investigation.
