Orioles blitzed by Red Sox, 10-1, lose ground in AL wild-card race

lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesBoston got homers from David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia, and seven and two-thirds shutout innings from Henry Owens, in hammering Baltimore, 10-1, Wednesday night at Camden Yards.

Owens (3-2, 4.33 ERA) gave up six hits and struck out four. O’s starter Mike Wright (2-5, 6.33 ERA) took the loss, giving up six runs on six hits in three innings of work.

Ortiz hit his 35th homer of the season, and Pedroia hit two home runs, his 11th and 12th, for the Red Sox.

Baltimore (71-74) is six games out of the second American League wild-card spot.
