A Palmyra man is being held without bond in jail after a high-speed pursuit that started in Nelson County and ended in Albemarle County on Wednesday night.

Brian Skeen faces multiple charges and remains in the Albemarle County Regional Jail.

A Nelson County Sheriff deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Front Street in Lovingston at approximately 10 p.m.

As the deputy activated his emergency equipment to include lights and siren, the driver allegedly accelerated and did not stop.

The driver entered Route 29 northbound traveling at “extremely high speeds,” until he made a right turn onto Route 6.

A second Nelson County deputy, along with an officer from the Wintergreen Police Department, assisted in pursuing the driver as he traveled eastbound on Irish Road.

The pursuit entered Albemarle County, and deputies requested assistance for the county in the chase.

The pursuit continued to the Scottsville area, where officers from Albemarle County Police Department and the Town of Scottsville Police Department successfully deployed a tire deflation device.

The suspect vehicle came to a stop, and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Skeen has been charged with the following offenses:

  • 46.2-817 (Felony eluding)
  • 46.2-301 (Operate a motor vehicle on a suspended operator’s license)
  • 46.2-862 (Reckless driving)

No property damage was sustained throughout this event, and there were no reported injuries, according to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.
