Hands and Harvest weekend in Monterey was Oct. 11-13, and this was the second annual “Old Fashioned Lawn Party” fund raiser for Highland Second Wind and Highland Senior Services.
The beautiful home and farm of Tim and Terry Duff was the perfect setting for the fun, food, games, held from 11am-4pm on Saturday the 12th. Sheriff Tim Duff enlisted volunteers to help with the apple butter making that went on all day, while others helped at the fishing pond, corn hole games, hay wagon rides, and silent auction.
The Valley Program for Aging Services transportation van shuttled people from Monterey to the farm and back all day; riders were entertained with a “historical” narration by volunteer John Deehan while en route.
Each year the silent auction is very popular and this year, along with other donations, raised over $900.
