NCAA: UVA-Maryland Super Regionals to begin Saturday

college world seriesThe UVA baseball team will play host to Maryland Saturday through Monday (June 7-9) in the 2014 NCAA Charlottesville Super Regional at a sold-out Davenport Field. The best-of-three series starts at noon Saturday. Game 2 is set for noon Sunday. If necessary, the third game is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday. All three games will be televised on ESPN2.

WINA 1070-AM will carry the local radio broadcast for all games of the super regional, while select stations along the Virginia Sports Radio Network also will have coverage.

The Davenport Field gates will open two hours prior to game time every day.

The No. 3 national seed in the tournament, Virginia is hosting a super regional for the fourth time, with each coming in the last five years (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014). Virginia advanced to a super regional for the fifth time in the last six seasons; UVa and Florida State are the only schools to play in five of the last six super regionals.

Making its first NCAA Super Regional appearance, Maryland (39-21) swept through the NCAA Columbia Regional, earning a walk-off victory over Old Dominion before winning a pair of games against the host, South Carolina.

The winner of the super regional will advance to the College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. UVa has made a pair of CWS appearances (2009 and 2011).

Parking Information
All parking will be paid parking for the entire postseason. Pre-paid parking permits will be valid in the University Hall parking lots. Pre-paid parking permits are sold out.

Parking on game day will be $5 in the John Paul Jones Arena and McCue Center lots.

Parking will be free throughout the tournament in the Emmet/Ivy Garage.
