National Weather Service issues flood warning for Waynesboro, Augusta, Rockingham

A flood warning has been issued and is in effect through 10:45 a.m. today for parts of northwest and western Virginia.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, includes Waynesboro, Augusta County, Rockingham County and Page County.

Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Reports indicate heavy rain due to rising streams and creeks. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.

Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

Areas that will experience flooding include:

  • Shenandoah
  • Massanutten
  • Crimora
  • Stanley
  • Sherando
  • Wintergreen
  • Big Meadows
  • Fishersville
  • Elkton

  • Rocky Bar
  • Port Republic
  • Swift Run
  • Jollett
