Moxley raises issue with Hanger vote on transportation funding

24th Senate District Republican nomination candidate Dan Moxley condemned Mount Solon Sen. Emmett Hanger’s vote yesterday to side with Senate Democrats to kill SJ 217. The Senate resolution would have mandated that all revenue dedicated to transportation funding go to transportation funding, and that any funding diverted would have to be repaid with interest, inside of four years.

“Ultimately, this is an issue of transparency, and once again our senator, together with the Democrats, has acted irresponsibly,” Moxley said. “A tax increase for transportation funding is problematic enough, but when the people have been told that the money is allocated for transportation, and their representative votes to spend it otherwise, it is nothing short of reprehensible.”
