bridgewaterScarlett Lewis, mother of Jesse Lewis – one of the 20 children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012 in Newtown, Conn. – will speak on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m., in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.

Lewis is the author of Nurturing Healing Love: A Mother’s Journey of Hope and Forgiveness. The book tells the story of her son’s life and the hardships she has faced since losing him when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children and six adult staff members.

Inspired to write the book after seeking refuge at her mother’s home immediately following the shooting, Lewis returned home to find three words that Jesse had written on a chalkboard – “Nurturing, healing, love.”

Lewis is now on a mission to change the world’s current culture of violence to one of safety, peace and love for everyone.

She is the founder of the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation, an organization that collaborates with professional educators to bring lasting meaning to Jesse’s death through the development of school-based educational programs.

The program, sponsored by the Harry W. and Ina Mason Shank Peace Studies Endowment, is free and open to the public.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college, located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.

I’m totally on the side of Dianna Russini in this generated controversy over her being caught holding hands, hugging and lounging in a hot tub with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel.
