Audiences voted Staunton resident Matthew Warner’s stage play “Chess is Blind” their favorite of the Stage Door Productions 7th Annual Original 1-Act Play Festival, held April 11-13 in Fredericksburg, Va.

This 10-minute romantic comedy skit about mistaken identity, chess, and Star Trek was one of six plays selected for production from more than 370 submissions.  Audiences were invited to vote for their favorite plays after each performance.  Warner will receive a grand prize of $150.

Warner’s stage plays, radio plays, and screenplays have been produced in Waynesboro and Charlottesville.  His seventh book, The Seventh Equinox, from Raw Dog Screaming Press, is set in fictitious Augusta, VA, based on Staunton.

Warner is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Horror Writers Association, and Virginia Production Alliance.  More information:matthewwarner.com.
