vmi footballA 42-yard Jon Croft Hollingsworth field goal broke a 21-21 tie, and VMI couldn’t convert on either of its last two drives in a 24-21 loss at Furman on Saturday.

With the score tied at 21 midway through the fourth quarter, Al Cobb was intercepted on a pass at the Furman 20. The INT set up the game-winning drive for the Paladins (2-2, 1-0 Southern Conference).

The Keydets (1-3, 0-1 SoCon) drove into Furman territory on their next drive before turning the ball over on downs. A last-ditch drive ended at the VMI 40 as time expired.

Cobb was 21-for-42 passing for 235 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.

VMI was held to 44 yards on the ground on 27 rushes.
