AFP

waynesboro libraryNeed some help finding employment? Waynesboro Public Library (WPL) has teamed up with the Waynesboro Rotary Club and the Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare to host a job seeker day. “Get a Job” Job Skills Fair on Wednesday, April 15 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Sessions scheduled for the day will help job seekers learn job finding skills.

Four sessions are scheduled:

  • A workshop on effective resume and cover letter writing will be provided by Latoya Garrison, the Job Placement and Experiential Learning Coordinator at Blue Ridge Community College.
  • Coaching interviews will be conducted by members of the Rotary Club. This gives job seekers a chance to practice their interview skills.
  • Three speakers are scheduled to talk about job searching topics.  The speakers slated to talk are Sherry Talbott of Bridgewater College, Elizabeth Bouldin-Clopton of the Valley Workforce, and Flo Rothacker, a Human Resources Manager.
  • In addition, representatives from area staffing agencies will onsite to interview for jobs.

Everyone looking for a job is welcome to attend. Participants must register at the library circulation desk by Monday, April 13.

“We were looking to fill a need,” said library director and Rotary Club member, Zahir Mahmoud. “Job hunters can usually find job fairs in Harrisonburg or Charlottesville but not Waynesboro. Ours is also unique because it targets the how-to part of job hunting. Be sure to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity so you can be well on your way to a successful career.”
