JMU women’s soccer tops Towson in CAA opener, 4-2

jmu logoJMU scored a season-high four goals Friday afternoon in its Colonial Athletic Association women’s soccer opener, a 4-2 victory over Towson at the Tiger Soccer Complex.

The Dukes got off to an impressive start in moving to 6-4 on the season as freshman forward Katherine Bukovsky (Centreville, Va./Westfield) scored her first collegiate goal, in the 29th minute.

Junior forward Rachel Ivey (South Riding, Va./Freedom) came  away with three points thanks to her goal in the 55th minute and her assist on senior forward Katie Hyland’s (Islip, N.Y./Islip) goal in the 48th minute. SeniorSam Lofton (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) pushed her season total for assists to five after helping on JMU’s final two goals of the afternoon.
