Jim Ross: Why would Brock Lesnar want to return to UFC?

Chris Graham

Dana White started it, and Alistair Overeem stepped it up, calling out former UFC heavyweight champion brock lesnar after UFC 169. There’s a lot of talk about Lesnar returning to the octagon. Jim Ross doesn’t see it happening.

“I can see why brock lesnar would love to fight in the UFC again because he’s a beast who feels he’s left unfinished business behind and he’s healthy….finally. I say the former NCAA, WWE, and UFC champion has nothing to prove by returning to the octagon as he’s got a great gig in WWE working part time for what I’d think is substantial cash,” Ross wrote Sunday on his blog.

This is a great point. Lesnar makes great money working part time in WWE. He’s also much less likely to get injured in a WWE ring.

But yet White has been doing his part of late to fuel the speculation about a Lesnar return, though the UFC president did take a step back in addressing Overeem’s comments after UFC 169.

That’s just Dana White being Dana White.

Lesnar sells pay-per-views, whether it’s UFC or WWE. To Ross, WWE needs to get to working on a storyline for Lesnar to help him sell WrestleMania 30.

Ross doesn’t see it being Undertaker, for what it’s worth.

“I could easily see Lesnar challenging The Undertaker and the streak for WM31 and letting that matter build for a year,” Ross blogged. “Lesnar gets reborn as a beast and provides the most intense threat to the streak that, arguably, anyone has ever presented. Just a thought.”
