washington nationalsWashington Nationals ace Max Scherzer took a no-hitter into the seventh. The Cleveland Indians got going with a vengeance after.

The Tribe touched up Scherzer for two runs in the decisive seventh inning in a 3-1 win Tuesday night.

Scherzer (12-7, 2.80 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits in seven innings of work, striking out 10 and walking one.

He didn’t get much offensive support against Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer (8-5, 3.88 ERA, 1.32 WHIP), who got the win with six and a third scoreless innings, giving up four hits and walking two while striking out four.

Jayson Werth (.250/.341/.426, 14 HR, 47 RBI) hit a solo homer in the eighth for Washington (66-46), which has a six and a half game lead in the NL East over Miami (60-53).

Bryce Harper missed a second straight game with a stiff neck.
