Henrico County man, person of interest, charged after shooting on I-64 Sunday night

A Henrico County man has been charged after a shooting Sunday night on Interstate 64 in Richmond.

Jerrell Hill, 28, is being held at the Henrico County Jail on unrelated charges.

Hill has been charged with:

  • possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor
  • two counts of allowing access to a firearm by children

Additional charges are pending, according to Virginia State Police.

The victim, Calvin W. Carter Jr., 40, of Henrico County, was taken to VCU Medical Center in critical condition.

The shooting took place at approximately 11:38 p.m. Sunday at the 186-mile marker in Richmond.

Troopers responded to Interstate 64 following reports of a shooting which took place between two vehicles heading westbound on the interstate.

The incident remains under investigation.
