Henrico County: Man found shot in abdomen on Interstate 64, dies at hospital

UPDATE: Virginia State Police have identified the shooting victim as Demond Winston, 41, of Sandston.

 

A man is dead after he was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen on Interstate 64 in Henrico County.

The identity of the 41-year-old male victim has not been released.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

According to Virginia State Police, it responded to the accident in the eastbound lanes of I-64 at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The crash was at the 193-mile marker in Henrico County.

Upon arrival, officers located a 2002 Chevy Tahoe off the right side of the roadway.

Virginia State Police bureau of criminal investigation, Richmond field office, responded to the scene to begin its investigation.

Henrico County: Virginia State Police asking public for assistance

Anyone with information regarding the crash or the circumstances surrounding the incident are asked to come forward.

“We are asking the community for assistance in solving this case,” said VSP Captain Brien Frey. “If you witnessed anything suspicious or have any relevant information, please contact us immediately. Your help could be crucial in bringing justice to the victim and his family.”
