Gannett donation boosts United Way library program

Contributors

Gannett Company Inc., parent company of the Staunton News Leader, has donated $5,500 to United Way of Greater Augusta to support its Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. This gift allows for the addition of 180 families to the program, reducing the waiting list from ten months to two months.

newspaper“The Dolly Parton Imagination Library has been very popular with families in the Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County area, and we greatly appreciate Gannett’s generous support.” states Cynthia Pritchard, CEO of the United Way of Greater Augusta. “Through the program, children receive high quality, age-appropriate books every month from birth to age five at no cost to their families. And independent studies have shown that simply having books available in a child’s home drastically improves early childhood literacy.”

Registration forms for the Imagination Library are available through the United Way of Greater Augusta office located in Fishersville. For more information regarding the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, please contact Anne McPherson at [email protected] or by calling (540) 885-1229.
