Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to speak at UVA on role of Congress

nancy pelosi uva karsh The University of Virginia’s Karsh Institute of Democracy will host Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi as part of its “Congress as a Cornerstone of American Democracy” series.

Pelosi is scheduled to appear on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at UVA’s Rotunda. Pelosi will reflect on the important role Congress plays in meeting Americans’ needs. What steps must be taken to accomplish that goal and invigorate trust among citizens?

Registration is required to attend this free event on Grounds in Charlottesville.

Doors will open at 1 p.m. Guests are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of the event to account for security at the entrance.

All bags must be clear and no larger than 12” x 6” x 12.” No backpacks are allowed.

The series features conversations with leaders from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill. Previous speakers have included:

  • former Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D)
  • former Rep. Will Hurd (R)
  • Rep. Chip Roy (R)
  • Sen. John Cornyn (R)
