Staunton City Council
There are four seats up for re-election on Staunton City Council.
Jim Harrington is running unopposed to fill out the remaining two years of former City Councilman Dickie Bell’s unexpired term.
Four candidates are vying for the other three at-large seats on the Council.
Carolyn Dull (incumbent)
Dull has been in Staunton since her family moved to the Queen City when she was 6 months old.
She is currently the business manager at the Augusta Correctional Center.
Dull was elected to Staunton City Council in 2006.
Bruce Elder (incumbent)
Elder is the owner of Elder Antique Autos in Downtown Staunton.
He has served on City Council since 2006.
Lacy King (incumbent)
King is a lifetime Stauntonian who is in his 40th year of public service in Staunton.
He has been on City Council since 2002 after serving for 32 years on the Staunton Police Department.
Carl Tate (challenger)
Tate is a Staunton native.
Tate has worked in the federal government and is currently a second-year student in the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.

Waynesboro City Council
There are two contested races for seats on Waynesboro City Council.
In Ward D, incumbent Lorie Smith is facing off with challenger Mike Harris.
In Ward C we have two challengers – Robert Johnson and Jeff Freeman. Incumbent Nancy Dowdy is not seeking re-election.
Ward D
Lorie Smith
Smith is a Waynesboro native who has served on the Waynesboro School Board (2002-2006) and Waynesboro City Council (2006-present).
Smith is a current member of the board of directors of Vector Industries and is the mother to a special-needs child, Lauren.

Mike Harris
Harris is a Staunton native and retired Virginia State Police lieutenant. Harris is a Vietnam veteran who has been active with the American Legion for 30 years.

Ward C
Robert Johnson
Johnson is an Augusta County native and 23-year veteran of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
He currently serves as the chairman of the Waynesboro Transportation Safety Commission and is a deacon in Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Jeff Freeman
Freeman is a Waynesboro native and recently retired high-school and college basketball referee.
Waynesboro School Board
There’s one contested race on the School Board docket – in Ward D, where incumbent Kathe Maneval is facing off with challenger Jennifer Jones.
Kathe Maneval
Maneval, an accountant, has been a member of the Waynesboro School Board since 2006.

Jones is the president of the Westwood Hills PTO and and a member of the board of the Valley Alliance for Education.
