Augusta Free Press is back in print with the debut issue of Augusta Free Press: The Magazine, with cover stories on the final phase of work on the Wayne Theatre and a Middlebrook doctor recently named the 2014 Country Doctor of the Year.
The full-color magazine marks the return of Augusta Free Press to print for the first time since 2011, when the four-year run of the award-winning New Dominion Magazine came to an end at the depths of the economic recession.
“We’ve been working toward this day for a while,” said editor Chris Graham. “Cynics say print is dead, but we still see a hole in the local market for readers looking for quality print journalism and for advertisers looking for a print product that doesn’t get tossed into the trash at the end of the day. There’s a market for a good print magazine, and we hope we can provide that.”
The January/February issue of Augusta Free Press: The Magazine also includes features on the 24th Senate District Republican nomination race, Fishburne Military School postgraduate basketball, UVA basketball star Sean Singletary and his new venture with the Waynesboro YMCA, and University of Virginia professor and Give War and Peace a Chance author Andrew Kaufman.
