Culpeper District Six-Year Improvement Program meeting is Oct. 9

Central Virginia residents are invited to attend a public meeting this Thursday to learn more about transportation projects funded in the Commonwealth’s Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP). The program allocates funding to a wide range of projects, including roads, bridges, sidewalks, bike paths and rail and transit improvements across the state.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Daniel Technology Center, Germanna Community College, 18121 Technology Drive, Culpeper. An open house will occur from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., immediately followed by a formal public comment period.

This meeting is one of nine scheduled statewide at which the commonwealth transportation board (CTB) will share information about and gather public input on the current SYIP as well as next year’s version of the program.

The current program (FY 2015-2020), approved by the CTB in June, is being revised to account for reduced revenue forecasts and to transition to the new prioritization process set forth in House Bill 2, signed into law by Governor Terry McAuliffe this year. The final revised program will be presented to the CTB for adoption at its November meeting.
