Butch Kidd: The Waynesboro Senior Center ‘changed my life’

Butch Kidd was suffering from depression, and just couldn’t get out of his funk.

“I didn’t want to go anywhere. Didn’t have anything to do with the family. I just wanted to lay down and die. That’s what I told my wife,” Kidd said.

He started seeing a psychiatrist.

“He put me on every pill you could think of. Nothing helped,” Kidd said.

A neighbor told him to check out the Waynesboro Senior Center.

“One day I just decided to come over and see what it was like,” Kidd said.

Since joining the Senior Center, he has come out of his depression. He’s handling his diabetes better.

“I’ve lost weight,” he said.

“The Senior Center has changed my life,” Kidd said.

“I’m active. I have something to live for, something to do every day. The people here are just wonderful. It’s really changed my life.”
