A three-vehicle crash on Tuesday on Route 460 in Botetourt County resulted in multiple injuries after a Troutville man allegedly failed to yield the right of way.

Virginia State Police is investigating the three-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:02 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Laymantown Road.

A GMC Sierra, driven by Erdie M. Trigg, 73, was traveling east on Route 460 and failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn onto Laymantown Road.

The GMC was struck by a tractor trailer which was traveling west on Route 460. After striking the GMC, the Freightliner ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

The GMC then struck a dump truck which was stopped at the stop sign on Laymantown Road.

The drivers of the trucks were wearing their seatbelts and were injured. The names of the drivers were not released.

Trigg was not injured. He was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

The crash remains under investigation.
